A disadvantage for one, an opportunity for another.
#India has recently banned #TikTok from the country, taking away a portal that was giving an opportunity for people from different sects, strata and classes to come forward, entertain, earn and reach new audiences.
This was a perfect time and opportunity for #Instagram to bring in Reels – their short video making app, which is inspired by TikTok.
Reels was launched last year in Brazil as a pilot and then extended to France and Germany earlier this year. However, India gives them a huge audience base, who are ready and hungry to get on a platform that gives wings to their talent.
This window is great for Instagram to increase its penetration further in India, and Mark Zuckerberg knows it quite well that brands and marketers would always come to places where the audience is. In fact, brands that had just started spending on TikTok could easily take their advertising money to Reels if it takes off.
Now, #Google would not watch all this from the sidelines. It is gearing up for the launch of Shorts, which will be a similar video making app within its YouTube platform.
This place is about to get quite exciting for the content creators and marketers!
